An Important Update for Our U.S. Customers

Transparency has always been central to Mina Finery. I believe deeply in explaining the why behind our decisions, even when those decisions are difficult to make.

Recently, changes to U.S. tariffs, penalties, and customs duties have significantly affected goods manufactured in India. As a result, we have had to introduce a 50% handling fee per item on orders shipped to the United States.

At present, garments made in India incur a 25% U.S. IEEPA tariff on postal shipments under $800. In addition to this, there is a 25% U.S–India penalty applied to Indian-made goods. Together, these charges amount to approximately $190 AUD on a single dress, and this figure does not include international shipping costs.

This handling fee is not a profit margin. It reflects the unavoidable costs applied at customs and allows us to continue offering shipping to the United States in a transparent and sustainable way for our small business.

I am fully aware that this change may mean some of our U.S. customers are no longer able to shop with us, and I completely understand that reality. This decision has been one of the hardest I have had to make. However, I did not want to remove U.S. shipping entirely, as Mina Finery has a loyal and deeply valued community in the United States. Instead, I chose to leave the option available, allowing each customer to decide what feels right for them.

Mina Finery is built on thoughtful design, ethical production, and honesty at every stage of the process. Whether our garments are made in Australia, India, or elsewhere, our commitment to clean supply chains, fair labour, and natural fibres remains unchanged. We are exploring manufacturing in other countries at present so we’ll see where this takes us.

I sincerely hope these tariffs and penalties change in the future, particularly for small, independent brands who are doing their best to operate ethically while navigating increasingly complex global trade systems.
